GTAC’s Non-Competitive Swim Programs

GTAC recognizes that many swimmers may wish to “get in the swim” but not at the expense of their other activities. Some kids may have just gotten the swimming bug, but aren’t sure if they want to "dive" into a year round competitive team. Other kids have completed our swim lesson program and want to continue, but they need more than 1/2 hour lessons. Some want to get ready for summer league swimming. GTAC wants to encourage all kids who like swimming to stay involved with the sport. That is why we instituted our popular Non-Competitive Swim Program. Please review the answers to frequently asked questions below.

●Swimmers in our non-competitive programs must possess moderate to advanced swimming skills, including the ability to swim freestyle for at least 25 yards comfortably. They may not be older than age 12. This program is for younger swimmers; high school age swimmers should train with our competitive team. More information about our swimming levels is provided on the registration forms or by contacting us below.

● Swimmers attend once or twice a week in two seven week programs at the University of Toledo Health Ed pool. (Note: The UT Health Ed pool is located across from the Glass Bowl parking lot, and is the same building in which the ROTC program is located. It is NOT the Rec Center pool, but just north of it.)

● Swimmers are a part of GTAC, but do not compete in any meets. For insurance reasons, all participants at UT are required to pay a one-time annual USA Swimming registration fee of $57, which is good through the end of 2011. .

● Swimmers receive all of the same great training and work-outs from our GTAC coaches.

● At the UT Health Ed pool program, swimmers train on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 5-6:15pm beginning on February 9. This allows the swimmer to join after winter sports, take part in activities that start up in the spring or take a break from swimming until summer. Each 7 week session costs $99 for once a week (Wednesday OR Friday) and $145 for twice a week (both days). The registration form details all of the dates for practice and holiday exceptions.

● Swimmers can choose to join GTAC's competitive team at any time at a pro-rated cost.
